Power of Visualization
Don LaBarre
July 17, 2006
Good evening and welcome everyone! This is Don LaBarre speaking from Endicott, New York. My talk tonight will be focused around the importance of paying attention to detail during visualizations and when saying prayers.
"See the rainbow!" This simple statement could invoke many different pictures to different people. I could have said, "See the rainbow, spanning across the sky over the city skyline. Look at the bright green, blue and purple colors, with hints of yellow and pink, as it falls behind the tall buildings in the city." These sentences draw a more complete picture in your mind, don’t they? They compose a clearer picture, and they give the image more power. By adding more detail to your visualization, you actually invoke more power.
The same principle applies to prayer. Say that someone you know is sick and you want to pray for him or her. You can sit and repeat the Our Father and Hail Mary fifty times while thinking of your next vacation trip. Of course, this still has some benefit, but if you visualize Jesus standing next to the person while you say the Our Father prayer, it adds more power to your prayer. If you go further by visualizing Jesus laying his hands on this person, it adds more power still. Then visually see and hear in your mind Jesus looking up to heaven and saying, "Our Father, remove this burden from this child of yours, but Your will be done, not mine." Can you see how this type of visualization is much more powerful than just saying a prayer over and over?
Our minds and the thoughts that we produce are so much more powerful than most people realize. I hope you will keep this in mind when we do our visualizations during the Prayer to Awaken the Sleeping Giant. By visualizing the cities, our nation, and the world, and seeing in our mind’s eye the "raining down of countless numbers of droplets of unconditional love," we give that love an extra boost of power. The more clearly you visualize every detail, the more powerful the prayer and thought. During the first part of the Prayer to Awaken the Sleeping Giant tonight, we will put this idea of detailed visualization to work. Some of you may already do this. For the ones that don't yet, our experience tonight may help you begin. Anything we can do to give this prayer more power will help our nation and the whole world. I ask everyone to visualize clearly in your mind’s eye each word of the prayer.
Don started programming computers in high school and decided to go to college for computer science. He spent the next 30 years designing and programming computers, database administration and internet web design. During most of those years, he was self-employed.
Don’s passion has been in natural healing, ever since he was fourteen years old. At that time, Don attended a healing service where the minister began talking about someone in attendance feeling heat on his or her lower back. It was Don! He was surprised, but too shy to say anything. His lower back had hurt him whenever he sat on a hard chair such as the pews in church, but since that healing service, he has never had the problem again, even after sitting for hours on a hard chair. That experience generated Don’s lasting interest in spiritual healing.
Throughout his thirties, Don read books and attended classes and courses focusing on his spiritual development. During that time, he experimented with various hands-on healing techniques, and in June of 1998, he became a Reiki Master. Last year he started a part-time practice in upstate NY specializing in hands-on healing and distance healing.

Don and his wife of eight years, Lucia, have a beautiful four-year-old daughter.
