A National Prayer Project to Awaken the Sleeping Giant

Conference Call #39

Philip Burley

September 11, 2006

(Final Conference Call in a Series Beginning December 21, 2005)

Good evening. I will begin tonight with three quotes from one man because his words speak volumes about what we have done together, and they spell out the true American character.

The man? Alexis de Tocqueville, an aristocratic Frenchman who came to the U.S. in 1831 when he was only 25 years old and later wrote Democracy in America, a two-volume study of the American people and their political institutions.1

Quotes

When American(s) ask for the cooperation of (their) fellow citizens, it is seldom refused; and I have often seen it afforded spontaneously and with great good will.

The health of a democratic society may be measured by the quality of functions performed by private citizens.

America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.

Alexis de Tocqueville2

Tonight is our last telephone conference call in this series, after 265 days of daily praying to Awaken the Sleeping Giant, our beloved country, from December 21, 2005 to today, September 11, 2006. Because I gave the same talk on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, during some weeks, to accommodate all participants, it brings the total number of calls to fifty. This has been no small undertaking!

Over three hundred individuals participated either on the calls or praying on their own, and fifteen speakers, whose names and talks can be read on ASG web site, helped to lead our effort.

As you will recall, the master Jesus asked me to coordinate this prayer with at least twenty-one people. I am sure that he and others in the spirit world who are behind this project are exceedingly touched and grateful for this outpouring of cooperative prayers of love for the American people.

It all began with a dream—a dream of a sleeping giant—orchestrated by God and the angelic world to alert and awaken prepared people to take up a cause bigger than themselves. I want to thank all participants for answering the call. It was not to me that you answered but to that unending and ever-expanding force of love we call God. I was merely a channel to receive the dream, convey the request, and cry from heaven to pray for our people and to pray as we have. Thank you all.

Opening Prayer

Our Heavenly Father, on this day, September 11, a historic day five years ago in the history of our nation, a day that brought heartache, agony, tragedy and dismay to our people, we look back on, honor, and celebrate the lives lost by our fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters in a one-world family, with you as the heavenly parent.

Because of your love and your justice, we know that those who died in this deplorable attack will not have died unnoticed by you and the innumerable hosts of loving spiritual beings who welcomed them into a better, higher, and happier life in heaven.

We pause in silence Father, to send forth our thoughts of love and wellbeing to nearly 3,000 people who perished five years ago today in the holocaust brought about by the destruction of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York City. (Pause)

Heavenly Father, at the same time, we are still here on earth living out our lives. Of necessity, we go on living and moving on. We cannot move forward by dwelling on the past, nor should we lose our way by living in fear and despair. To those who are aware of the state of the world but who have no spiritual perspective, the world seems nearly out of control, as a ship without a captain or rudder. But those who recognize you, dear God, at the center and helm of our individual lives and country, have faith and trust that you are still steering the holy ship of our beloved nation on its right course—that we will, in time, reach safe shores again.

You, the Energy, Intelligence, and Love of life, are in charge, whether we know it or not. You are in charge. Lead us tonight into the highest awareness of your presence in our lives. Those who have gone before us into the next expression of life now know without question that you exist. Become so real to us that our lives take on ultimate purpose and meaning. Become so real to us that we can, in the balance of our time on earth, realize you and your will fully and celebrate this fact in our daily lives. Thank you, dear Heavenly Father, for being you; our refuge and savior, and for being there, in us and all around us, at all times.

All this I pray in the Christ Spirit, in Jesus Name, Amen

Opening Talk—September 11, 2006

Let us look forward, not backward,
Let us look inward, not outward,
Let us give all credit and glory to God.

While I paused in remembrance of the 2,749 people who perished in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, I do not wish to dwell on what is past. I want to live positively in the present and look to a brighter, happier future for you, me, and our whole nation. I chose this date, September 11, 2006, to conclude this phase of the Awaken the Sleeping Giant prayer project, so that we could join in the American spirit of looking back to lovingly remember and solemnly commemorate those individuals who were victims of a horrific attack on America. However, I think most of us would agree that it is now time for a new beginning for each of our lives and in the life of our nation.

As we move on and step into a new time in our prayer project to Awaken the Sleeping Giant of America, I want to speak about the power and presence behind all we have done. All my life I have known that God is living all around me and within me. This is not conjecture or faith in something unseen, because God is as real to me as I am to myself, as an all-consuming presence within and around me. I know that almighty God is the very intelligence and quiet but mighty power behind this project. In my heart of hearts, I feel the desire to give God all the credit for the unfolding of our lives in all ways, and especially in ushering our prayers to Awaken the Sleeping Giant.

God, the Father, is most feeling and most caring, and his sensitivity is beyond our ability to comprehend. We experience only an infinitesimal portion of what he feels. He sees everything, knows everything, and can experience everything. He hears the prayers of everyone, spoken or unspoken. He sees what has been, what is now, and what is to come. No one has the view that God has, and no one has the capacity to carry the burden of God’s awareness. Yet his love is infinite, unconditional, and deeply personal. In loving personally, he merges with our lives and knows every detail of our existence—yes, including how many hairs are on your head, if he wants or needs to know!

God is often relegated to a back seat in our lives, called upon only during times of great need or worry. He is called by many names—some not so pleasant, and some casting him as so objective that he is made to look and feel like a piece of machinery that keeps the universe going and our lives existing by some rote process. But nothing moves his heart so much as the love of his children when they call him "Father" and draw close to him, not as some vague, shadowy, abstract point of communication, but as a living, loving, ever-present, parent. When we speak straight from a heart filled with passion poured out in words and feelings of gratitude and undying love, he responds fully and is moved to the core of his being. How do I know this? How does anyone know this? It comes from experience after experience with our Heavenly Father.

My eyes have often been flooded with tears as I poured out my prayers to God. What causes this? It is not just my need to cry out from some agony in my heart, but because, as I pray sincerely, I feel an outpouring of love that is beyond human love. It is a love that penetrates to the very core of my soul, and it is, above all, personal—suffused with a presence that knows me better than I know myself, often crying with me. I know, because I have heard those sounds countless times in my walk with God, just as I have heard his laughter on many occasions.

I want to share with you one life-changing experience:

On March 3, 1965, I knelt on the floor in my bedroom where I was living at 617 N.W. 16th Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I was filled with nothing but love and gratitude to God for my life, even though I was poor and wanting in those days. I had been out of the army for three months and was in the midst of searching to find my way.

After a few minutes, I became aware that the room was becoming completely suffused with blue light. I began to feel very warm and spiritually uplifted. After the room reached what must have been a right atmosphere and vibration, I felt and saw a beam of golden-white light descend into the room above and behind me, about four to five inches in diameter. As if directed by some invisible intelligence, the light lovingly, harmlessly passed through my back and chest, coming out through my heart. As it appeared before me, it expanded and manifested as an egg shaped presence of light in front of me, measuring about seven feet high and six feet wide. I watched as if in a trance, and I probably was; yet I was fully alert, eyes wide open, and aware enough to know that I was not losing my mind. How could I think that? I’d had so many spiritual experiences all of my life. Was this one more?

Very quickly, after the egg-shaped elliptical form reached its full expression, throughout its interior there appeared a glowing, shiny, pearl-like light. It moved in swirls and eddies as it came into complete manifestation. It began to form the full figure of a man. I was simply overwhelmed at what was happening, and yet somehow not at all afraid or surprised. Perhaps the aura of love that filled the room kept me feeling so calm and natural.

Then it happened. The being in front of me began to take on a face. While all of this was happening, I was continuously aware that the light was streaming through me, appearing outwardly, and that everything was happening in front of me only five or six feet away. As the face appeared fully, I was amazed to see my own face!

I could not contain myself! This was real, happening in real time, and I was wide-awake, though still kneeling. Finally, not being able to hold back any longer, and with a heart pouring over with love, I exclaimed in a loud, excited voice, while moving up and down on my knees, "Father you are real! You are real! And you look just like me!" I don’t know how, but I could feel a smile in the energy in the room, and God responded in a deep resonant voice, "Of course I do, for you are made in my image and likeness, and when anyone sees me, like you, they see themselves.” I was drenched in perspiration and my heart was soaring to the point that I thought life would never be the same.

Gradually the light withdrew from in front of me, out through my body and out of the room. To say it was a night to remember is the understatement of eternity. To prove himself and that he wanted me to know my own reality, during the next two weeks, the exact same experience happened two more times.

Now you tell me, how can I not know God, let alone not believe in God? Now you know why I do what I do and why God, my Heavenly Father, is so precious to my mind and heart. And was life ever the same? What do you think?

I will not go on. I simply wanted, at this point in our walk together, to bring all credit and glory to God. It is not a feeling of any obligation, because he is not like that. Rather, it is my great joy to allow him to bask in the outcome of his work through us individually and collectively. He is the Giant within us that is awakening us and bringing new understanding and life to all who are hungering for unchanging peace and infinite, unconditional, personal love.

Thank you, Heavenly Father. You are our Father and Mother, and through you, we are born into our highest and most divine Self. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Amen

Prayer to Awaken the Sleeping Giant

Meditation

Let us now take a few minutes in silent meditation to ponder what has already been shared tonight, and what we are about to share on this last conference call—the Prayer to Awaken the Sleeping Giant. (Pause)

Now, as I read out loud and you read in silence, let us begin the Awaken the Sleeping Giant prayer with the Mission Statement.

Mission Statement

I understand that Jesus has asked for special prayer for America. To comply with his request, I have volunteered to be a prayer channel—ideally once a day—for God to radiate through me unconditional, loving, protective, healing energies to all Americans. I am not responsible for the outcome of my prayers. In faith and trust, I leave the outcome to God.

Prayer

  1. Dear Heavenly Father, I visualize before me the city of Washington, D.C., our nation’s capital. I pray for this city as representative of all cities and towns of America. In my prayer, I see the radiation of your holy and eternal spiritual White Light spanning above and over the whole city.

From your all-encompassing, supernatural, White Light, I see the raining down of countless numbers of droplets of unconditional love upon all the people; leaders and followers alike.

For a few moments I will continue to visualize these droplets of unconditional love raining down upon our nation’s capitol where the drops may awaken, protect, and bless all of the people of Washington, D.C., and all cities and towns in America. (One minute pause for visualizing)
  2. And now, Father, I turn toward our nation. In my prayer I see the radiation of your holy and eternal, spiritual White Light spanning above and over the whole nation of the United States of America, from East to West, from North to South, including Alaska and Hawaii. And from your Light I see the raining down of droplets of love that may awaken, protect, and bless all of the people of America. (One minute pause for visualizing)
  3. Father, I now center my prayer upon the world. In my prayer I see the radiation of your holy and eternal, spiritual White Light spanning above and over the whole world. And from this Light I see the raining down of droplets of love that may awaken, protect, and bless all of the people in every nation of the world to bring about universal harmony, unity, and lasting peace among all nations. (One minute pause for visualizing)
  4. Heavenly Father, I affirm that my prayer has been heard, that your love combined with what I have given, awakens, protects and blesses me, all of the people of America and the whole world. I know that your will, is being done with all of my prayers according to your greater wisdom.

Having said this prayer given from above for the last time, Heavenly Father, we seal it in our hearts as our offering treasure for the experience, the meaning, and the privilege of being called to serve our country and the world in this way. Bless us, dear God to continue to be of use to you and to all who cross our path. We know our prayers have been heard by you this night Father. Thank you. All this I pray in the universal Christ Spirit. Amen
