AWAKEN THE SLEEPING GIANT

Conference Call #9

Washington’s Vision

Philip Burley

February 14 and 15, 2006

Conference Call Number: 712-432-3000

Bridge Number: 261644
[no longer active]

Good evening and welcome everyone! This is Philip Burley speaking. This is our ninth Awaken the Sleeping Giant conference call. Our next conference calls will be on Wednesday, February 22 and Thursday, February 23, 2006.

In order to establish unity and oneness in spirit, let us begin by speaking out our names and cities in unison. On the count of three, please speak out your name and city three times: One, two, three…

Thank you.

Announcements

Phone Confusion: The Mystery is solved. Only this week did our conference call provider inform us that their equipment allows only twenty-six people to be heard on the line. Anyone from number twenty-seven up can connect but will not be able to be heard. Needless to say, I was frustrated that this information was not made available in the company website. On the contrary, it advertises that up to two hundred and fifty people can be on line at one time. Another approach is being studied and that would be via computer, but meanwhile, please continue to bear with us.

Participant Communication: We have added a blog page to our website where you can communicate with other ASG participants, and these writings can be seen 24/7. This was at the prompting of Marsha P. in Maryland. Thank you, Marsha.

Tonight’s Content: I will not be quoting from any of your communications tonight because I consider the subject for tonight’s talk to be vitally important and want to feature it alone. For the same reason, I will not be staying on after tonight’s conference call because I want us to all think deeply about what I am sharing tonight and not change the atmosphere when this call is completed.

Opening Prayer

Dearest Heavenly Father, I feel an ever deeper and growing sense of responsibility for America as I observe the reality that this project, Awaken the Sleeping Giant, is bringing forth. Increasingly, I understand why Jesus asked us and has asked many others whom we don’t know, to pray for our beloved country.

Please, dear God, guide us individually and as a group to the right mind and heart for the days that lie ahead, not only to conform to the contents of this prayer condition but for the unfolding reality of our country. Help us to trust you so much that we arise to a new level of faith and courage. Let us trust you one hundred percent with hearing and responding to our prayers and our individual, family, and national needs. Let us affirm over and over that you are with us and that you are in charge. This can only build a greater bond and oneness with you, Father.

You are our eternal Father who knows the future and will guide us on our path as we consistently turn to you as a reality and not just a misty object of faith. As you have guided countless others in times of need, in times of fear, in time of crisis, so you are guiding us. May our life of faith bring about miracles for us and the world.

All this I pray in the Holy Christ Spirit that surrounds and penetrates this circle of believers. Amen.

Opening Talk—Washington’s Vision

What is the Future of America?

Each week I consider carefully and prayerfully what I will say. I truly seek divine guidance in doing this, because I want to do the right thing for the sake of you and me and our fellow Americans. There are now around three hundred people involved in our prayer condition. An exceedingly faithful participant in Seattle, Washington, wrote me several days ago, "... the current population of the U.S. is estimated at about three hundred million, so we have about .0001% of the population [meaning Awaken Sleeping Giant participants] praying for an awakening. That translates into each participant representing about one million Americans walking the earth plane."

Saturday, January 18, 2006, will mark the sixtieth day of this condition. This will leave a balance of thirty-one days (ending March 21) remaining in praying to Awaken the Sleeping Giant.

I am the recipient of your emails, which includes both your personal and universal remarks, and I have published ninety-nine percent of them. I have not published those that include your dreams or prophetic writings about destruction falling upon this land, because I exercise considerable caution over what I put out into the world. Words, written or spoken, are potent energy as the research of a modern day Japanese scientist, (Mr. Masaru Emoto, from his book "Messages from Water.")1 has shown. He discovered and revealed the effects of words upon water and other mediums in altering the molecules in their configuration for the better or worse. Considering that our bodies consist of two-thirds water, we can each be greatly affected by both positive and negative thoughts and words much more than we ever realized.

I have sought to stay the course of this condition, which is to pray to awaken Americans, not by might, not by force, not by judgment, accusation, or fear, but by God’s love as channeled through each one of us. Also, I have obeyed Jesus’ dictate "not to approach this effort from a political point of view." The master followed these words by saying, "If those who criticize others spent that same time praying for others, then we would see more positive changes both in those who pray and those who are prayed for."

Having said all of this, I will say that some of you have had dreams about destruction in major cities in America brought on by negative forces, and others have written me about Internet articles regarding the demise of our country. While I do not want to unleash a stream of potentially frightening words as found in some dreams and prophetic utterances of possible negative happenings in our country, I am not a Pollyanna or the proverbial ostrich with his head in the sand. As 9/11 demonstrated, anything is possible when the Giant of America is slumbering and unaware. This does not mean that you should not send your dreams, and I may publish them as a whole down the road and/or as prompted by spirit.

This week, while I was seeking guidance from above as to what to speak on, Archangel Michael suddenly came and said, "We want you to share the vision of George Washington at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania."

Whether or not you have read or heard of President Washington’s awesome and overwhelming spirit visitation and vision does not matter, for hearing it in the context of our present prayer efforts only serves to enhance our understanding and appreciation as to why Jesus asked us and others of conscience to pray for America.

If you research Mr. Washington’s vision on the Internet, you will find a number of sites carrying it. The context may differ from one of a secular context to one of a religious context, but the words are nearly the same.

There is questioning by some as to the authenticity of this story, but I am sharing it in the context of our prayer efforts, first because Archangel Michael told me to, and secondly because I believe that, at the very least, we must consider its contents as being possibly prophetic. Forewarned is forearmed.

George Washington

Let me begin with a quote by George Washington, the first president of the United States of America, speaking to congress on New Year’s Day 1795—two hundred and eleven years ago:

Americans, our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, is to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and implore Him to continue and confirm the blessings we have experienced.

Many students of history consider George Washington to be the greatest man who ever lived. Certainly, he was a great American—a brilliant, educated, successful man who risked everything for the freedom of our country. He was a man of great moral character, stemming from the fact that he was forthright, honest, charitable, and a gentle man of quiet modesty and proper deportment—considerate, kind, and courteous.

George Washington had a commanding appearance. He was the most physically impressive of all of our presidents, and in his prime stood over six feet, four inches tall and was a lean and powerful two hundred and twenty-five pounds. In addition, this handsome figure had a distinct military bearing.

An Impossible Task

Washington had the impossible task of taking a few thousand untrained volunteers and leading them against the armies of the world's greatest empire. Great Britain was a powerful and progressive empire with colonies and influence around the world, with mighty armies and fleets to defend her possessions. England could accurately boast that the sun never set upon her flag or the British Empire.

Adding to the difficulties was the fact that the American Colonies were economically weak, had no standing army or navy, and had only three million people, who were seriously divided as to whether or not to fight for freedom.

It is not known what percentage of the colonists genuinely supported the cause for freedom. Many of those loyal to the British monarch constantly gave help, comfort, and support to the enemy. Probably no more than three percent of the people in the colonies actually took part in the fight for American independence. Then, as now, apathy, self- interests, uncertainty, and fear prevailed among a large portion of the population.

Man of God

The paintings of George Washington kneeling in prayer in the snow-covered woods of Valley Forge in the winter of 1777 are based on fact. He believed that God would lead him to victory against the British forces, and anyone who has read his hand written letters and documents cannot help but be impressed by his reliance on the Almighty and his deep belief in divine guidance.

Strengthened by a sense of duty and honor, driven by a love of freedom and a hunger for justice, sustained by faith and confidence in divine providence, George Washington would not fail. He would fulfill his destiny. This uncommon man would lead the colonial forces to victory, become the father of our country, be unanimously acclaimed our first president, and set the course for what was to become history's greatest nation.2

GEORGE WASHINGTON'S VISION AT VALLEY FORGE 17773

George Washington

"Great caution must be taken in the acceptance of the authenticity of any visions or dreams of men. The following vision, however, does have some very remarkable factors that seem to be fully true to U.S. history as well as to the potential history of today. The story of the occurrence and the content of this vision was first published in the U.S. war veteran's paper, The National Tribune in December 1880. That paper is now known as the Stars and Stripes. The occasion of the vision, as told to Wesley Bradshaw, follows":

The newspaper article:

"Washington Had Vision of Trials Facing Nation," by Wesley Bradshaw

The last time I ever saw Anthony Sherman was on the Fourth of July, 1859, in Independence Square. He was then ninety-nine years old, and becoming very feeble. But though so old, his dimming eyes rekindled as he gazed upon Independence Hall, which he came to visit once more.

"Let us go into the hall," he said. "I want to tell you of an incident of Washington's life — one which no one alive knows of except myself; and if you live, you will before long see it verified.

"From the opening of the Revolution we experienced all phases of fortune, now good and now ill, one time victorious and another conquered. The darkest period we had, I think, was when Washington, after several reverses, retreated to Valley Forge, where he resolved to spend the winter of 1777. Ah! I have often seen the tears coursing down our dear commander's care-worn cheeks, as he would be conversing with a confidential officer about the condition of his poor soldiers. You have doubtless heard the story of Washington's going into the thicket to pray. Well, it was not only true, but he used often to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation.

"One day, I remember it well, the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shone brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out, I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual, and there seemed to be something on his mind of more than ordinary importance. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters of the officer I mention, who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about half an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone could command, said to the latter:

The Vision

I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire into the cause of her presence. A second, a third, and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes.

By this time I felt strange sentiments spreading through me. I would have risen, but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, even though itself had become paralyzed.

A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor. Gradually, the surrounding atmosphere seemed as though becoming filled with sensations and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarify, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy, and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my companion.

First Great Peril

Presently I heard a voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn," while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world — Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific.

"Son of the Republic," said the same mysterious voice as before, "look and learn." At that moment I beheld a dark, shadowy being, like an angel, floating in mid-air, between Europe and America. Dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand, he sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a dark cloud raised from these countries, and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary, and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning gleamed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people.

Second Great Peril

A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them.

Again, I heard the mysterious voice say, "Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn." At this the dark, shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill-omened specter approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking, I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word "Union," bearing the American flag, which he placed between the divided nation, and said, "Remember ye are brethren." Instantly the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons, became friends once more and united around the National Standard.

Third Great Peril

And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia, and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were joined into one. And throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America, which country was enveloped in the volume of the cloud. And I dimly saw these vast armies devastate the whole country and burn the villages, towns, and cities that I beheld were springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of swords, and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard again the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." When the voice had ceased, the dark, shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth and blew a long and fearful blast.

Heaven Intervenes

Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel, upon whose head still shone the word "Union," and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens, attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well-nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle.

Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, "Son of the Republic, look and learn." As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious!

Then once more I beheld the villages, towns, and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice, "While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last." And taking from his brow the crown on which was blazoned the word "Union," he placed it upon the Standard, while the people, kneeling down, said, "Amen."

The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, "Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, passing which the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land, and the Union." With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat, and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States. "Such, my friends," concluded the venerable narrator, "were the words I heard from General Washington's own lips, and America will do well to profit by them."

Prayer to Awaken the Sleeping Giant

Closing Comments

Thank you all for attending this ninth in a series of prayers for our country. Let us all keep the promise and remember to remember to attend to our sacred prayer duty, first for ourselves and secondly for others and our country of the United States of America.

God bless and good night.
